So, I get into work this morning, dock my laptop and power up. Sign in and go to use the mouse. Nothing, it’s dead. I switch USB ports, nothing. Try to use the keyboard to shut down, dead. What the… Ok, hard reboot. Make sure my machine is docked properly, boot. Ok, keyboard is working. No mouse. Ok, reboot via keyboard. Keyboard still works, still no mouse. Try mouse in USB slot on actual laptop, it works. Oook. Call help desk. Standard questions are you on the network-yes, did you reboot-yes, did you reboot after the keyboard worked-yes. Ok, I’ll be up in a few minutes. He gets behind my desk, there are no lights on on the docking station, uhm…I’m on battery on the laptop… So I crawl under the desk as he’s asking if I have a power plug, I pass it through the little hole. You mean this one?

Yes, I committed the dumbest noob help desk call ever, I called and my station was unplugged. In my defense I hadn’t had coffee yet AND it’s one of those tiny little plugs that fall out if you look at them funny, not one of those heavy duty three pronged ones.

I now crawl under my desk with my cup of coffee. I may come out for the concert tonight.

Oh and apparently I can check LJ from work again. Odd.

My Liberal Identity:

You are a Reality-Based Intellectualist, also known as the liberal elite. You are a proud member of what’s known as the reality-based community, where science, reason, and non-Jesus-based thought reign supreme.

I heard about this on the radio on the way home today so I decided to look up the page, because I was curious.

Fourth straight day of this. I have to go back to work tomorrow but it's getting there and getting done. The garage still needs a fair amount of mucking out. Cassie is getting through her stuff pretty quickly, mostly because 90% of it is gone.

Lots of very sad panda's in the house right now.

I went to bed last night feeling like I was still wearing the soaking wet clothes I'd had on for 12 hours of the day yesterday. Today, today was fun getting out of bed. I helped push 3 cars out of the driveway as well and move around a metric butt ton of shit. I have bruises and scratches in places I don't remember hitting. And at this point, I expect to have a headache for a week.

Can we be done now? K thx bye.

Sooo tired

So yeah, the water is gone. Well, the standing water is. The garage looks like a demilitarized zone. It's just a mess. Hardly anything was near the place it had started. Even our large chest freezer. Yes, on it's back and opened. The plug behind it was toast, so we hoped with a working plug it may still work. So we currently have an extention running it. Luckily, about 75% of the stuff in the freezer is in Food Saver bags. There will be things that get tossed, but it's one less worry. We'd been meaning to get a new couch in the TV room, well I guess that'll be sooner rather then later. Most of the electronics survived.

My last post was in no means meant to sound like we were standing around picking our noses wondering what we were going to do next. But I was standing in from of my computer, literally dripping wet. I was a little disjointed, having not eaten for the better part of the day and having been moving large cars and stuff and water. It was more trying to figure out which direction to go next. It was bad, it is bad, but we'll get through. Everyone was in action in under 2 minutes of my waking them and actually were all in action, together, all day. In one fashion or another. If it was going to get burgers before we literally all fell out or picking up the most wonderful shop vac that shop vac has ever made (with water pump function!). Trudging through water, or shoveling around stuff in the main house so we could do stuff when we were in the main house.

Oh and very special thank you goes out to [livejournal.com profile] linnaeus for the long trek he made here from the city, through just as much flooding as there is here, to do everything he could to help us muck things out.

I woke up this morning to water pooring in from the garage. we had about 3 feet in the house, about 4 feet in the garage. Devin and Kyttin's cars were under water enough there was water inside the cars. I had a mild panic attack when I first saw the garage. I haven't even completely comprehended how bad it is yet. I'm still in survival mode. Devin even had about an inch of water in her house.

That was 8 this morning. I have no idea what we're going to do...

I love the interwebs. More now then ever before. They allow me to talk to my beautiful boy who lives way to far away. They allow me to play games. And, they allow me to watch all the video ever of the New Kids shows that everyone is posting. Sharp contrast to 20 years ago. But it's a beautiful thing.

They stopped the remake of Ferris Bueller, I can only hope someone will pull their heads out of their asses on this one too. I don't know if this will do any good, but what the hell...

So, I really need to post most actual content at some point. It really is too late tonight. Let's just say, for now, that life has been really good for me this year and seem to be continuing on that lovely path.

Lots of changes in the rest of this year. I have to say, I'm looking forward to some if not most. They'll be some work involved, but some of it just needs to be done.
