I woke up this morning to water pooring in from the garage. we had about 3 feet in the house, about 4 feet in the garage. Devin and Kyttin's cars were under water enough there was water inside the cars. I had a mild panic attack when I first saw the garage. I haven't even completely comprehended how bad it is yet. I'm still in survival mode. Devin even had about an inch of water in her house.

That was 8 this morning. I have no idea what we're going to do...

What you're going to do is wait for the water to recede, then start hauling out water logged stuff.

I'm in Indiana for the weekend, but let me know what I can do to help when I get back.

Which really is what we did. We're prepping for a fight with the suburb--the driveway will be full of crap for a while, and frankly we don't care if it's visible or whatever.

Right now, ServiceMaster has us on their checklist to come out and help us clean up, hopefully on the insurance company's dime.

I'm sure Vlad will discuss things when he's back and mobile--he's banged his head, hip, and backside good today. Almost more injured than me.

I'm already working on recruiting help for when the water is gone enough for cleanup to start. What you're probably going to do is sort out what is salvageable from what is not. Document everything, and figure out what needs to be replaced or repaired first.

If all Devin got was an inch, she's doing well since her space is well below grade. She could easily have had water almost to her ceiling. So sorry, she doesn't get the right to bitch much (though she probably will.) At least that means the hvac for the house is probably ok.

Take a few deep breaths. Nobody was hurt. That house has strong bones. You have friends who will help.

You know what, she has every right to bitch. 1 inch or 4 feet, she still had belongings destroyed. Maybe not as much as others, but she has no bed. Oh and her car was UNDER 4 FEET OF WATER. I think she has a right to be upset as anyone else in the house.

Do you really think this was an appropriate comment to make?
