I duffed my Treo on the way into the apartment today. Didn't even have the bastard 24 hours.

Couldn't have been somewhere nice and soft, couldn't have bounced off something to soften the fall..nope right onto the concrete in front of the mail box. Scuffed a couple spots real nice on the side.

This is exactly why I wanted a holder for it to put it right into when I got it. But I haven't really found anything I know I'll be 100% happy with.

And I know it can't stay new forever. Just with the cost of this thing, I'd liked to have had it survive a month scuff free.

Otherwise, I bloody love this thing. The only problem I've found, is it doesn't want to hold my log in for LJ. Especially when i'm trying to comment or reply to someones comments. Fellow Treo owners, any idea?

Ah, I think I've found the problem. The login information is stored in a cookie, and according to the PalmOne Knowledge Base:
The Treo 650 web browser supports cookies stored on the client. Session cookies are cleared 10 minutes after you exit the browser, or 25 minutes after your last interaction with the application.

It's probably that 25-minute time limit you're running into.

Go to the Microcenter right off of 90/94 and pick up one of these:

$30 bucks. It's bulletproof! But make sure all the parts are included in the package before you buy it. Apparently other patrons of Microcenter like to steal clips out of these packages. I just loved getting home only to find I had no fucking belt clip.

I remember seeing this when you go it. I think it's too bulky for what I want. I think I've decided I want something to be around it, without being to binding and then something to carry it in when it's not in use, like when it's in my purse or on my belt.

I was worried about dropping my Sidekick if I was using it while walking. Here's what I did:

1. It has its own section in my new waistpack, with nothing else in it to cause scratches.

2. I got a Rivet Kingpin ($24.95 Radio Shack, $19.99 Best Buy) chain for it, so that if I fumble the phone while walking and surfing, it falls about as far as my knee. The Sidekick has a place to put a lanyard/wrist strap, and so the nylon loop attachment loops through there. The chain can be unhooked from the phone side. The chain is smooth so it won't scratch the phone if I put the loose chain into the pack. I hook the chain to a zipper tab. Rivet also makes belt clip and car attachment points.

3. Most of the time, I use a Body Glove earboom headset for talking, so I can leave the phone in the waistpack.

ear bud does nothing for me, when I was surfing then net on it when it fell :) I was holding it and going to go into the mail box and the slippy little bastard fell out of my hands (exactly why I was telling Posi earlier in the day that I wanted to get some kind of skin for it)

Also, use Froogle to look up Treo 650 Skins; there are vinyl applique skins as well as skin-tight silicone cases if you just want scuff protection.

I'm planning on getting a nice set of vinyl skins for my Sidekick, maybe a nice woodgrain.

Look for screen protectors too, especially since you have a touch screen...you'll eventually wear into the screen with the stylus or your fingernail, and if you do, just peel off the protector and put on another one.

Do you have AIM? I'm now on AIM and Yahoo all the time on my SK. Email to my rustitobuck@ addresses get sent to it too.

In fact, Cheetah just got a 650 as well, so maybe talk to him, we've split packs of screen protectors before.

I love my Treo.

I'm thinking of getting a skin case for it. I use it way too much at work to have much around it, but want to at least keep it from getting dinged up too much.

that's pretty much my problem. I know if I buy a big covering case, I'll just take it off cause I'll get sick of it.

I don't need a screen protecter right away, they gave me a single one in the booklet pack from Verizon.

I'm not a fan of the appliques, however I have been looking rather closely at the skins. it's just a matter of deciding what I want to get. the problem is, I've found most of the treo stuff, the biggest selection, can only be found on the net. which is fine and all, but I actually want to see what I'm going to buy.
