ROCKED! Ohmygawd-goddess-higher creature to which you pray. Misti finally talked me into going Friday, we had only planned to go Saturday and Sunday. I headed out right from work, traffic had it's bad spots. I met Misti at LJS for a quick dinner (the start of a weekend of grease that my system is still not happy about) and to leave my car and off we went. Gaelic Storm went on stage at 7:15 and it was 5:50. We didn't know what traffic was gonna be like, but I was scared it could be back. We hoped that since it was Friday that it wouldn't be bad. We go to the stage about 6:45 and found decent seats considering it was only 30 minutes to the show. Quick side note, I freakin remember going to see them on the smallest stages they had at Irish Fest, now they are on freakin Miller stage. I'm soooo happy for their success, but I'm greedy and selfish and want them all to myself (ok and Misti and maybe a few others can share). Anyway, by the time we got to the stage the guys were already setting up. Fine by me, gave me a chance to glimpse the new guys. All have a nice appeal and do grow on you. Rock Star Bob is awesome. The other two are kinda nice as well. :9 But Stevie still has my heart. Damn bohdran players. They also have one more new player, but I don't know that I can find pics of her anywhere. She's pretty cool and needs to relax a little. Their performance Friday was great just because I haven't seen them in like 2 years. Saturday and Sunday blew Friday away tho. We stayed after the concert to get some autographs. While waiting we met up with some girls who work at Bristol Ren Faire as Consorte Bella Donna singers. We chatted most of the time we were in line, we didn't even realize we were at the table til I looked up and saw BOB! :) We headed home after, with a quick stop at Woodman's for some food for the weekend. Quick and Woodman's never really work in the same sentence when Misti and I are concerned. :) So 1 1/2 hours later we were heading back to her place. We were pretty much up til 4 chatting and shit. I can say I don't remember what time we got up Saturday, but we got up and were clean and dressed and out at a fairly decent time. We were on the grounds by I want to say like 2. We wondered around, not doing much. I called Duncan to gloat about being at Irish Fest and to find out the group he had wanted to see. We had time and thought maybe if they were playing between then and the time we needed to go get seats for Gaelic Storm we'd go check them out. Duncan informed us the group was Carbon Leaf. We found a schedule to see that they were on right then and we were right near the stage. What the hell and we headed over. OHMYGAWD were they fawking awesome! I mean, damn. Damn. Duncan, Misti owes you a beverage of choice, I'll buy ya a six pack. Damn. Seriously damn... I could have left after that and been happy for the weekend. Well hell of course I didn't. I mean there was still Gaelic Storm to be had. Now anyone who knows me knows they are pretty much my favorite band. We stopped out at the car to drop off our new signed cd's from the neat new band and some stuff Misti got. We quick had the yummy sammiches Misti made and headed back in to claim seats 3 1/2 hours early for the GS concert. Good thing we did, the best we were able to do was 4th row-not quite center stage. We seen a neat act and a so-so act and had numb butts by the time 10:15 rolled around. Which was fine by me, we didn't sit the entire time GS was on stage. I have seen GS about a dozen times at this point, but never were they as awesome as they were that night. Maybe it was the fact it was an actual night time concert, the lighting, the crowd. All or none, I don't know. But that day, as well as the night, will not be one I forget anytime soon. I was so overwhelmed by the end of that night. We were gonna wait to get autographs but found out that due to the lateness of the show they were not being allowed to autograph that night. Blah. We stood by the stage door for awhile and pretty much saw everyone. We just needed to tell them how amazing they had been that night. We hung out for a little while and headed back to Misti's. We both had two beers each and were feeling pretty good. We ate and had another drink and then headed to bed, since the next day (we decided that yeah, we were gonna do three days) was gonna be an early one. We figured we could get there around 12 for seats for the 4pm GS show, stop and get our CD inserted autographed and then head over for the 6 o'clock Carbon Leaf show. Well, we didn't get there til 2. :P But we damn well lucked out, we got front freakin row! We ended up sitting next to this pretty nice lady who we chatted with while waiting for 'our' show to start. It was a damn fine show, even after the night before. They ended the show with the one song Misti wanted to hear all weekend, 'Tell Me Ma'. *sigh* What a day. We ran around back and waited for autographs (I have had something autographed by the group every time I have seen them and today of course want NOT going to be any different, even if I did want to go see Carbon Leaf in less then half an hour). The line moved pretty quickly and we found ourselves seeing our favorite group for the last time for we don't know how long. I finally got my picture done with my boy Stevie. They boy has a thing for my breast. Couple years back he signed my chest. This time, he just planted his face in them. I'll get the pics up at some time, I don't have any where to put them right now. *sigh* yet another memory not to loss any time soon. Damn bohdran players. So we headed, quite happily, over to catch CL. I'll say it again. DAMN. I love bass players. :9 So yeah. After the show we were damn hungry. We stopped and got some damn tasty Shepard’s Pies. We had intended to stay for the Scattering and the Bohdran jam, but we had had a long weekend and I still needed to take Misti home and get home myself. So'k tho, I think we both had pretty full weekends. I think it'll take me a couple of days to recover. I got three new albums to listen to. One GS and two CL cd's. And a good time was had by all.
Got kinda long and I'm sure most people don't care to hear about how fawking awesome Gaelic Storm and Carbon Leaf are. Let's just say I had a rockin good weekend. Damn bohdran players.
