I would suggest finding a music store where a salesperson doesn't blink when you ask for music in the genre, "Something that hurts my brain."

Then start placing random words together, and see what the clerk suggests.

"Angry German Men singing Sinatra" netted me Einstürzende Neubauten's Strategies Against Architecture, which does include a German industrial band doing a Nancy Sinatra cover, "Sand." Very nice.

"A black man singing a white man's songs" earned me The Persuasions' Frankly A Capella, in which a doo-wop group sings Frank Zappa. Including two pieces which were originally instrumental.
