I feel so accomplished
Feb. 21st, 2004 11:42 pmToday, I sorted crap. Yup, crap. As Duncan pointed out when he was out here, I have 30 pounds of crap in a 10 pound bag. Well, I have another 20 pounds in storage. The storage place is named, Gram's Garage. Yeah, I have half of my grandmother's 2 1/2 car garaged piled with my stuff. Misti and I had gone through a good 1/3 of it on one other occasion, but do to weather and the lastness we had started, we didn't get much done that time. Well, my Gram needs the other half of the garage soon and she's planning on moving in with my Mom in the some time future so I really need to get this stuff gone through and out. This weekend was the perfect (well, mostly) weekend for it. I had no solid plans for the weekend. I called Jason Foxworth and Misti and asked if they would come help me out. I needed/wanted people to help, but I needed1)people who will work 2)People who know me well enough to know what really shouldn't be thrown away and what should go to rummage/garbage. Kyttin and Linnaeus would normally fall under the people I would ask, but they were both going out of town. Luckily Misti and Jay were both able to help. We got through all of it, in 6 hours. We had about 12 (20 gallon) bags of garbage, several tons of busted down boxes and about half the stuff left is goodwill/rummage sale/ebay stuff. To look at it, it doesn't look like we got much done. But I know we did. I know between the three of us (Posi mostly went through his stuff, I have a good bit more then him) we looked and/or went through every single box in that garage. Next time I'll already have the banker boxes, so things can be sorted a little nicer.
Now I realize there is probably still more things I will dump/sell/get rid of, but each time is a little more. It's just one more small step to not ending up massive pack rats like my mom and grandmother. Here's to hoping.
After the 4 of us and my mom, grandmother and brother all went to Kenosha to Golden Coral. I feed Jay and Misti for helping (and I really can’t thank them enough, by the end of the night it was freaking freezing). I also took my family out to celebrate. My baby brother is gonna do time. At Six Flags. He’s working games like his sister. His first real job. Poor kid, I hope it’s half as fun for him as it was for me.
So now I’m home. I’m really hoping to fight off this damn headache that’s trying to move in. Tomorrow, a change, hockey. ( I’m not changing it up to much, I’m going to a concert Wednesday (
