Today has been interesting. [livejournal.com profile] takaza didn't have to go to work today, there was no power at his office (due to the storm mentioned last night) or here for that fact. We lost power around 12:30 for good last night. We flickered off around 11:30, but came back. It was rather disturbing last night, standing in the back bedroom (I hate houses completely in the dark) looking out the window and seeing the bright flashes as misc power sources fry. I heard a *whramp* about every 5 to 10 minutes (the sign of one more going). I unplugged my laptop and phone and went to bed. Was woken up this morning as the power came back, for about 2 minutes. Here's the things, the heat is electric. Blah. Takaza brought in a spare blanket and I slept til 9. Some one was suppose to come view the house between 10 and 11 (we didn't think it was gonna happen, but we weren't 100% sure the guy wouldn't show) So we all took quick showers, cleaned the last of anything that needed it and sat in waiting. We figured if they showed we head out, otherwise we just sat around shooting the shit. At 11, we let our hair down and played Outburst (rather interesting with only 3 players), [livejournal.com profile] duncandahusky whipped us badly. We then headed out in hopes of warming up and getting some food (I'd been staying warm snuggled up to Taki's Stitch plush and nice hand made quilt). Oh did I mentioned I didn't bring any long sleeves shirts? It's North Carolina, it's not gonna get cold. BS! It's not as cold as home, but sitting all day with no heat is enough to make you a little chilly. So, we found Whole foods closed (No power), Harris Teeter (grocery store, powered, packed), stopped by a neat little game store and headed to McGreggor Ale House in hopes that it was 1)Powered 2)Not horribly packed. Score! It was busy, but not as pack as it could have been. Food, warmth, good. Service also wasn't too bad considering. We had discussed shooting pool. Nah, too full. Darts? Ok, so we headed across the parking lot. How much for darts? FREE! Coolness. It was $4 per person to shoot pool (not to bad, little local bar/pool house). So we each bought a soda and threw a couple games of darts. Cricket and a couple games of 301. I lost all of them. Coming in second only on the last game. Also, in standing around I seen a couple of guys that looked like they were bastard redneck brothers of a couple of Wolves players, Garnett Exelby and Dan Snyder. ([livejournal.com profile] moryssa will be the only entertained by that one. :>) It started to get smoky and afraid of what the roads would be like after dark we headed out. The scenery was rather nice. Many trees bent or broken (unfortunately), but the ice on everything looked nice. We found more working stop lights on the way back and got to home to find. POWER!! Yay. Came on about a hour after we left. We've lost in once since, for only a minute, but it leaves me worried that we might not keep it all night. Right now we are waiting for a couple of Duncan's friends to show, they are still without power and trying to keep warm around 64 candles. I'm gonna go be social now. It's amazing. :)
