You know, I like my Sundays mild and quiet. That does not at any point include Tornados, Tornado warnings or any form of funnel clouds.

I was on the phone with my mom and decided to wander outside to see how the rain was coming. It was stopping. So after I hung up I stood there and watched the clouds for awhile. And watched how they were forming, literally. I had been watching one lump of clouds and had just looked over at another set when I saw the funnel coming down. Posi had just come outside and confirmed what I had saw. We ran upstairs to gather the cats as the sirens started to go off. Well the cats bolted and we never ended up on the first floor (the only place we have to run is the laundry room on the first floor). But ourselves and pretty much all the neighbors that were home were outside watching the entire time.

Now I admit, I'm a freak and the only thing I could think was "damn and my camera batteries are dead". But I grabbed my radio, put fresh batteries in and I'm ready to roll should we get another warning or siren. Now here's hoping for a nice quiet dinner.

Provided it wasn't headed at me, I'd probably be one of those out watching a tornado as well. I've never actually seen one. The closest I've gotten was watching the underside of a storm start to spin as it passed and what appeared to be a funnel starting as we came home from AC last year. In both cases the storms later did spawn tornadoes and in both cases I'm glad they waited because I was too close to where the tornado would have formed.
